The Mn. State Auditor numbers are out!

The newest Mn. State Auditor numbers are in and our march for the top spot, as the number one most expensive city in the state, appears to continue. These numbers are for the year end 2013 and as always they follow at the end of the succeeding year. Yes folks Grand Rapids moved, (as  predicted,) in their ranking of the 226 cities over 2500 population to, the prestigious number 6 spot from last years unimpressive number of only 14 in total expenses per capita. Remember the top 226 cities include the likes of Richfield, Edina, Woodbury, Shakopee, Hibbing, Bemidji, and so on. None of the fore-mentioned seem even close to Grand Rapids in expense per capita. High drug abuse
High homelessness
High alcoholism
High unemployment
High mental illness
High domestic abuse
High food shelf activity

Is there a cause and effect here?

Where would we rank in the future had we implemented a city sales tax?

How does Fiscal Disparities play a role?  (see previous article, “Fiscal Disparities Study”)

Remember there are those being paid well to save us from such catastrophic results is it time to re-think our strategies?
